When i wrote ZX Loader to load ZX Spectrum program tapes and store them in files on my Macintosh hard disk, i had no access to internet newsgroups and i didn't know of all the other emulators available for other computer platforms and the file formats already defined by others. Therefore i invented my own format, which was saved by ZX Loader and saved and loaded by Mac Spectacle thus adding another format to the already pretty long list of formats used by various ZX Spectrum emulators.
Hoping that nobody already adopted my tape file format for some other software, i hereby replace my tape file format with the already existing .tap file format as it is used in Gerton Lunter's Z80 for example.
Tape Converter just converts all old tape files to the new format. It's only interface is drag&drop, you may drag a bunch of files on it and it will convert any old tape file it finds.
To indicate the outdated files, i have included bundle resources for the old file types in the new version of Mac Spectacle and Tape Converter, so all old tape files should show up with a red cross across their icon.
The newest version of ZX Loader (version 1.0.4 or higher), which saves the new format, should be available at the same locations where you got Tape Converter or Mac Spectacle.
